Facial Steaming

Facial steams are a great way to cleanse and soften the skin.  You can customize the steam to whatever skin type you have or whatever skin imbalance you are experiencing.  All you need are some skin-friendly botanicals of your choosing, a large bowl, some warm water and a towel.  

First, place warm water (the warmer the better) in a large bowl and add the botanicals. The botanicals will begin to infuse in the water.  Place your face over the water without letting it touch the water and then you can place a towel over a portion of the backside of your head to help maintain the steam.  Usually, I like to steam for 3-5 minutes. It’s up to you.  Basically, its until you feel like your pores have opened and your skin feels nice and soft. 

Depending on your skin type, there are certain botanicals that are best for your skin. Here are those that I recommend for each skin type:

Oily

*          Rosemary

*          Peppermint

*          Calendula

*          Lavender

Dry/Damaged

*          Oats

*          Oat Straw

*          Aloe Vera

Senstive

*          Rose

*          Lavender

Facial steams are just a nice, inexpensive way to do a little spa treatment for yourself. You deserve it!
