Radishes for Healthy Skin~Recipe: Summertime Radish Tartine

Radishes are a root vegetable that have been around for as long as can be remembered and they are known to be a great vegetable for healthy skin.  Radishes have a high water content, helping to keep the body hydrated and maintaining moisture in the skin.  Radishes also contain Vitamin C, which are known to help to protect the skin from environmental stressors that can lead to premature aging, dark spots and wrinkles. This is a favorite recipe that I love to make this time of year when the radishes are ripe for the picking. Summertime Radish Tartine

Serving: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 small French baguette (sliced in two halves)
  • 6-8 radishes (sliced thinly)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Sea Salt
  • Scallions (to garnish)
  • Olive oil (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit;
  2. Toast the small sliced baguette for 6-7 minutes until lightly browned;
  3. Remove slices from oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes;
  4. Spread 1-2 Tablespoons of butter on each slice of baguette;
  5. Layer sliced radishes along each slice of baguette;
  6. Sprinkle with sea salt (to taste);
  7. Garnish with sliced scallions (to taste);
  8. Drizzle with olive oil (optional).
