Summertime Potpourri

I think that one of the most lovely things about summer is gathering flowers and herbs in June and July, drying them out, and by August incorporating them into a Summertime Potpourri that you can enjoy in your home for up to four months. This is one of my favorite potpourri recipes. You, of course, can incorporate any flowers or herbs of your choosing into the recipe. Those in this recipe just happen to be my favorite. Enjoy!

Summertime Potpourri

1/2 cup lavender buds

1/2 cup rose petals

1/4 cup chamomile

1/4 cup yarrow

1/4 cup lemon balm

1/8 cup spearmint

1/8 cup rosemary

3 Tbsp cinnamon

3 Tbsp allspice

1/4 cup lemon peel

1/4 cup orange peel

1/8 cup lime peel

1/3 cup orris root powder

10 drops frankincense essential oil

10 drops lime essential oil

Mix dried botanicals in a container. Add the citrus peels, orris root powder and spices. Mix well. Then add the essential oils to the mixture. Mix well. Place in glass jars and let age for 5-6 weeks. During this 5-6 week period, mix potpourri every couple of days.
