Yarrow Healing Salve

Yarrow is one of my favorite little herbs because it has so many healing properties.  It is so beneficial in treating minor cuts, burns, and rashes.  Some people have skin reactions to yarrow so its best to ensure that your skin doesn’t react negatively to it prior to use.  I love to leave this healing salve handy in the house.  It’s a great go to product on your skin when you get a cut, scrape, rash or burn.  The best way to prepare this is by steeping the dried plants in the oil for about a week. Then once you are ready to use the oil, strain the plants out of the infused oil and place in a clean bottle or jar with an airtight lid.

Ingredients:

1 tsp. dried St. John’s Wort

1 tsp. dried plantain leaves

2 Tbsp. dried yarrow

½ cup carrier oil (jojoba is my favorite)

2 Tbsp. beeswax pellets

1 tsp. shea butter

Directions:

Place the infused carrier oil in a pot with the beeswax and shea butter.  Melt over medium low heat.  Once fully melted, you can put a few drops of essential oil in the salve, if you like, or not…totally up to you.  Then quickly pour the salve into a clean glass jar with a lid.  Keep in a cool, relatively dark place for up to one year.
